Thankfully—and despite impacts across the nation—not a single Israeli was killed. However, dozens of missiles did hit their intended targets, and others came close. These targets included Israeli air bases and military intelligence facilities, such as Mossad headquarters outside Tel Aviv. Civilian population centers were at risk, as well, though no lives were lost from the few missiles that landed in and around those areas.

One may be tempted to describe today’s attack as an Iranian failure. After all, with no Israeli casualties and only limited damage, what did Iran accomplish? (One person—a Palestinian—did die, though no one would dare describe that as an Iranian victory.) But that misses the implications of this attack within the broader context of the war. Today’s attack was the largest ballistic missile strike ever conducted by Iran, and the second such attack in less than six months. That Iran was willing to do this twice, shows they are willing to do it again, and that this second attack was larger than the first, shows they are willing to escalate again.

What this means is Israel will not be safe until Iran’s ability to strike the Israeli homeland is eliminated. Israelis cannot be expected to live in constant fear of yet more missiles threatening their lives and forcing the entire population into bomb shelters at a moment’s notice. No society can function under such conditions. No people deserve to live in such a state of fear.

As much as pundits want to risk of a war to disappear—so they can sound smart to their listeners—it will not happen until Iranian military capabilities are crippled. Nor will it happen because the war has already begun.

Israel will counterstrike. Statements from Prime Minister Netanyahu and the Israeli ambassador to the UN made that clear. The Wall Street Journal reports that sources confirm Israel will strike Iranian nuclear facilities and oil infrastructure. Iran stated any Israeli attack will be met with another and more severe Iranian response.

Welcome to the new world of tit-for-tat military escalation. Who knows where the escalation ends?

Netanyahu Leads Israel to Its Destiny

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is a controversial figure.

Anthony Somma

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is a controversial figure. As the leader of the only non-Islamic nation and only true democracy in the Middle East, Netanyahu is often criticized as anti-democratic, anti-Palestinian, and anti-peace. In the months immediately preceding the October 7 massacre, Israel had been engulfed in nationwide protests, as hundreds of thousands of Israelis crowded the streets to express their opposition to the Prime Ministers recommended judicial reforms. Media outlets and political opponents accused Netanyahu of a coup against Israeli democracy and went so far as to claim the reforms would install him as a dictator overnight.

These criticisms, accusations, and hysterics are along the lines of the same sensationalisms which are nothing new to the man whose public life spans more than forty years, several cabinet positions in multiple administrations, and two non-consecutive periods as Prime Minister. Throughout this storied career, Netanyahu has been smeared with every slander and lie the radical progressives and terrorist sympathizers could concoct. He often seems to be the most hated man in Israel.

But today, he is the most loved. Gaza is leveled. Hezbollah’s leader is dead. And Israel is forcefully affirming not only their right to exist, but their right to exist peacefully. Prime Minister Netanyahu leads through difficult days, restoring peace for his people, and eliminating all who threaten that peace.

Peace—a permanent peace—is still far away. While Hamas is all but defeated, Hezbollah is still a long way off, despite the deaths of Secretary General Nasrallah and the majority of the terror group’s senior leaders. Iran continues to pose an extreme danger to Israel, as do the terror proxies the radical Islamic nation continues to fund.

Nevertheless, it is clear that Israel’s destiny is toward a peaceful co-existence within the Arab world. The Abraham Accords, as well as the Israeli-Arab-Western alliance, which has emerged in response to the Iranian security threat, are testaments to the opportunity at hand in the region. Netanyahu is proving to his people and the world, that Israel will not shirk, will not fall timid, but will seize on this moment for her people and the people of the world.

This is Israel’s destiny, and Benjamin Netanyahu will lead her there.

Tim Walz: the Anti-American Vice Presidential Candidate

No Other Major Party Vice Presidential Candidate Ever Posed as Grave a Threat to America

Anthony Somma

Tim Walz, Governor of Minnesota and vice presidential pick of de-facto Democrat presidential nominee Kamala Harris, earned an odd though fitting new reputation last week as the most anti-Italian American vice presidential candidate in US history.

The Italian American Civil Rights League (IACRL), a non-profit dedicated to protecting those of Italian descent in the United States from persecution and discrimination, released a statement decrying Walz as public enemy number one for Italian Americans.

Walz’s failures to protect the twin cities, including Italian-American citizens and business owners, during Minnesota’s Summer of Hell riots, which engulfed the streets of Minneapolis-St. Paul throughout the summer months of 2020, is cited among the reasons for the IACRL’s warning to all Americans to reject the bigotry and hatred of the Kamala-Walz ticket.

Walz was chastised as well for allowing the destruction of a monument to Christopher Columbus in the Minnesota’s capitol of St. Paul and his refusal to replace the monument following its destruction by rioters.

But there is more to the story. Though the IACRL’s grievances against Walz are legitimate, it isn’t fair to slander the man as anti-Italian American when Walz is in fact anti-all Americans.

Since Harris announced Walz as her running mate, the revelations about a man few had ever even heard of have been shocking to the American public. Tim Walz fits the bill as not only the most radical vice presidential candidate of any major party in American history, but also as the most despicable—and soon, despised.

As the IACRL notes, Walz allowed maniac rioters to burn down countless small businesses, homes, and the entirety of multiple minority communities throughout Minneapolis-St. Paul. Walz may harbor disdain, and even hatred, for Italian Americans. But the facts tell us his twisted bigotry extends well beyond to all minorities, especially the Black, Hispanic, and Asian Americans who lost everything in the fires of Walz’s riots—because Walz refused to protect them from the rage and violence consuming their homes.

One would think this would be enough to send whatever Walz’s remaining political aspirations may be down in flames. Surely, there can’t be anything worse in this man’s background than his outright rejection of the rule of law and his refusal to help those least able to help themselves in their most dire moments of need.

One would be wrong, for Walz repeatedly and blatantly lied about the extent of his military services—or lack thereof—throughout the twenty-four years he has campaigned for and held public office. Stolen valor is the military term for claiming glory for ranks never attained and acts of courage or service never committed. Such behavior is a federal crime—an indictable offense—that could land Walz behind bars.

Walz earns himself at the least the hatred of all Americans to ever wear the uniform, and of all Americans who respect those true heroes for their acts of bravery and honor in service to our country.

Kamala Harris is already the most radical major party presidential candidate in American history. Isn’t fitting she would select the most dangerous, bigoted, and anti-American vice presidential candidate as her running mate, too?

Kamala Kills in the Middle East

Biden-Harris has brought the world to the brink of war

Anthony Somma

Americans know two things about the Middle East:

Below the ground, there is oil. Above the ground, there is war.

The pursuit of peace to secure trade routes in the region has been a top priority of nearly every post-World War II presidency. Some got it right, with a touch of diplomacy or the occasional military action well measured to the moment to ensure peace. Others failed miserably, leaving the world less safe.

Biden-Harris is in that latter camp—a failure in every way.

Desperate, fearful, and naive are the traits of the Biden-Harris White House. And America appears weaker every time this administration is forced to deal with any foreign policy problem.

The Afghanistan withdrawal cost us thirteen Americans lives and sent the message to Russia that the time was nigh to wage war on Ukraine. Easing Iranian sanctions failed to lead to a new nuclear deal. Worse, it empowered the Mullahs to rearm themselves and their terrorist proxy groups, who murdered thousands of innocent Israeli civilians last October 7.

Today we are on the precipice of disaster.

Biden-Harris refuses to order military action to deter Iran. Attacks on American soldiers and our allies continue. Hezbollah is so undeterred themselves that they deliberately target Israeli children with their strikes. With deterrence failing, and Israeli security more uncertain than ever, their leadership is forced to take more aggressive action themselves, with the hope it will stop their enemies in their track. Iran is compelled to respond.

As long as the Biden-Harris team refuses to act—it won’t end.

They may think they are avoiding war, but they are in reality they are walking us closer to the brink of a much worse—and likely global—war.

The White House palace coup confirms Vice President Kamala Harris is who is—and has been—leading this administration. As the Asian markets opened Sunday night, selling immediately inundated the stock, forex, and bond exchanges across the Eastern Pacific. The TOPIX, Nikkei, and other indices fell like a stone from the sky. Before long, investors were looking at double-digit percentage losses across multiple asset classes. Japanese banks, industrials, and cryptos fared the worst, as the Yen whipsawed stronger in a rapid revaluation.

American index futures held steady with only slighter under three percent losses until early Monday morning when all hell broke loose. Nasdaq futures hit the low of the day before the opening bell, down more than 1,300 points from Friday’s close. The DJIA and S&P weren’t much better off. Equities closed well off the lows, though Monday’s chaos left many investors shaking and wondering what’s next. The VIX showed it.

Tuesday was eerily quiet, inviting speculation over the events of the previous day. Many analysts attributed Monday’s market crash to the shocking jobs report and renewed fears of recession. Twitter pundits took hold and branded the event as the ‘KAMALA KRASH’. Not so. As much as arm-chair traders and politicos wish the explanation were that simple, it never is and isn’t this time either.

What traders and those actually “in-the-know” think we know, is that the surprise rate hike last week from the Bank of Japan triggered a massive imbalance in the forex markets and popped the bubble held up by the Yen carry trade. Allow me to explain. As Western central banks raised rates to combat four-decade high inflation, the Bank of Japan took the opposite approach, maintaining interest rates near record lows throughout the entire Federal Reserve, ECB, and BOE hiking cycle. This made it highly profitable to borrow yen, which was cheap and getting cheaper. Investors then sold the borrowed yen for dollars and bought dollar denominated assets. The bet is simple: if the yen keeps getting weaker, and the dollar stronger, then when Japanese investors sell their dollars and buy back in yen, they’ll turn a profit.

That is, until last Wednesday, when the BoJ announced their rate increase. Meanwhile, the markets anticipate, and the Fed has said, that the Federal Reserve will be easing policy by lowering rates beginning at the September meeting. This means the yen carry trade described above was no longer so profitable, and that investors anticipate it to be even less profitable, as the BoJ and the Fed continue to march opposite one-another down their respective policy paths. Investors knew they had to unwind all their positions or face more losses in the future. That’s what they did.

With Tuesday having been so quiet, commentators and traders are speculating that the unwind is over. All is well. Let’s move on. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Markets proved that today, as Tuesday’s gains were more than erased, and losses are growing larger this evening in the futures markets.

Panic and uncertainty have totally shaken investor confidence. Experienced traders know events like this don’t go quietly into that dark night. Someone somewhere, and likely someone big, could have easily blown up from Monday’s massive market dislocations. In fact, if there aren’t at least a few large money managers, banks, or pension funds teetering, I’d be surprised. Many are licking their chops. But it’s the big systemic ones, with wounds that won’t heal on their own, who will come back to the market now to sell. When this happens, and it will be soon, we will see the next leg down. And markets won’t be so calm anymore.
